Corticosteroids Injections

Steroids are a man-made version of hormones produced by the body.

When injected into a joint or muscle, they help to reduce inflammation and can give relief of pain, swelling and stiffness.

The effects of the steroid injection can take 48-72 hrs to see results, however some patients will see results immediately.

The effect of the injection can last 3-6 months with some lasting up to a year.

Steroids are often used by people with a range of different muscle and joint problems, and can be particularly useful in when your symptoms are stopping your progression from injury and back to full health.

Hyaluronic Acid Injections (Ostenil Plus)

Ostenil®️ Plus is a solution containing hyaluronic acid.

When injected into a joint the injection works by restoring the normal balance between the breakdown and production of hyaluronic acid, which is the lubricant that allows joints to move freely and smoothly.

Ostenil®️ Plus has been extensively tested and has not been found to cause any serious side effects.

The exact make-up of the hyaluronic acid in Ostenil®️ Plus has been carefully chosen so that it is as effective as possible in treating osteoarthritis and other joint based injuries.

Some conditions may benefit from both a steroid based injection and Ostenil®️ Plus injection. These can be administered at the same time.

The procedure can often give instant relief to the shoulder and is especially effective for problems such as frozen shoulder.
